Children's Drawings Show Grandparents As Anything But Old

These Kids' Drawings Of Their Grandparents Are Beyond Adorable

As you get older, you may look in the mirror and start to notice new lines forming on your forehead or that some things are just headed south.

We also know perception seems to trump reality when it comes to aging and older people. Recent studies have shown older adults are negatively affected by common age-related stereotypes like memory loss.

But there's a surprising group of people that will always view you as ageless and full of youthful vigor: grandchildren. Dutch designer Yoni Lefevre asked local schoolchildren aged 10-11 to create drawings of their grandparents. The children's perceptions were far from stereotypical.

"Older people are perceived as standing on the sideline, having lost their independence...Children do not regard their grandparents as grey and withered, but as active human beings who add color to their lives. Their fresh perspective can contribute towards a more nuanced and positive view on the composition of our society," Lefevre writes on her site.

Lefevre recreated the drawings in pictures with the help of photographer Nick Bookelaar and some older volunteers.

Lefevre said she hopes the works serve as a confidence booster for the older generation. Scroll through the pictures below to see the delightfully endearing images for yourself.
