Delivering Happiness 'Cheer Leader': I Make Less Money, But I'm 'Infinitely Happier'

WATCH: 'I Earn Less Money Than I Could, But I Am Infinitely Happier'

Mark Rowland makes his living as a cheer leader.

That's his job title at Delivering Happiness, an organization that helps make offices into happier workspaces. Rowland told HuffPost Live's Nancy Redd that he's been interested in the concept of happiness for about a decade, which has allowed him to hone in on his own personal definition of what that prized emotion means.

"I want to feel like I'm in control of my life," he said. "I want to do the things that will lead to my meaning and purpose. I want to have a sense of progress, and I want to build connections with lots of people around me."

Before getting involved with Delivering Happiness, Rowland was a CEO and entrepreneur, but he said his commitment to being happy has been more liberating than anything he's done before.

"Those things led to me being happy, to me being able to turn down jobs in my career that have lots of money attached to them that I didn't feel tapped into what I truly wanted to do with my life," he said. "Now I probably earn less money than I could, but I am infinitely happier."
