Denver's first lady, Mary Louise Lee, is planning to let America know that Denver has talent, too.

This Saturday Lee will be auditioning among fellow Coloradans for a spot on the NBC reality show, "America's Got Talent" at the Colorado Convention Center.

Lee is an accomplished performer and theater actress, and is the lead singer in her group, the Mary Louise Lee Band. In 2011, she performed "Amazing Grace" in Denver's Civic Center Park in front of an estimated 35,000 attendees for the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and in the same year, sang on opening day at the Mile High Sports Authority Field. Earlier this year, she also served as the Honorary Chair of Denver Arts Week.

Lee has been singing and performing since the age of 3, and has become an ambassador to the city's local arts community since her husband, Democrat Michael Hancock, became the mayor of Denver in 2011. Some of her initiatives include, the "First Lady's Artist of the Month" and "First Lady's Honorable Mention," in which Lee spotlights two local artists on the city's website every month.

Tanya Hayre, a spokeswoman for "America's Got Talent" told The Denver Post that the show welcomes performers of all kinds.

"Last season's competitors included musicians, dancers, magicians, contortionists, comedians, singers, jugglers, animal acts and everything in between," Hayre said.

If Lee passes, she will advance to perform in front of judges Heidi Klum, Howard Stern, Howie Mendel and Mel B, with Nick Cannon as the host.

The winner will take home a $1 million grand prize.
