'The X Factor': Double Elimination Shocker Eliminates One Judge From The Competition (VIDEO)

It was a tough week for one judge on "The X Factor" as a shocking double elimination cut one category completely from the competition. The night started off with the contestant who doesn't even get a chance to sing for a judges' save, and it was one-time front-runner Ellona Santiago. Even Santiago was stunned, saying, "I guess I didn’t give the strongest performance last night."

Her mentor Demi Lovato's night just got worse, as it came down to a sing-off between Carlito Olivero and Rion Paige. After Rion faltered, it was the end of the road for her. And just like that, Demi went from having two singers in the Top 6 to having no one left in the competition. Buddy TV's John Kubicek couldn't believe Demi was the first mentor knocked out -- everybody's money was on Carlito's mentor, Paulina Rubio.

Ivy Jacobson of Hollywood Life thought this double-elimination was the most painful yet. The remaining four contestants need to pick it up and battle for America's votes. Joining Carlito in the semi-finals are Simon Cowell's two groups, Restless Road and Alex & Sierra, while Kelly Rowland has Jeff Gutt still in the mix.

"The X Factor" continues on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
