Airing across three networks simultaneously, the first part of "Bonnie & Clyde" took over the airwaves of Lifetime, A&E and History. The new two-part miniseries brought back the Barrow Gang, but with a very different take than the classic 1967 film. For one, Bonnie seems to be calling the shots in this version of events.

And then there's Clyde's unusual dream sequences. According to his great-grandma, he has "the second sight." But one thing remains the same. Bonnie and Clyde are hopelessly devoted to one another, and they'll gain all the fame and fortune they hope for before going down in infamy after a few short years.

"Some reviews called the show sexist and misogynistic, but there’s something to be said for a female lead to not only be in charge, but to be so delightfully not a good person," wrote E! Online's Lauren Piester. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Willa Paskin hated what she saw as the miniseries "hating" Bonnie. She was portrayed as "a fame-hungry, sociaopathic Jezebel ... In this 'Bonnie & Clyde,' female ambition is more dangerous than a loaded gat."

Erin McCann of The Guardian was disappointed that everything in the series had been done before, and better, by the likes of the original film, "The Untouchables," and even "Boardwalk Empire." She asked, "Is your good sense often overruled by displays of beautiful costumes and a good old-fashioned car chase? [If so], this is the remake for you.”

"Bonnie & Clyde" concludes Monday night at 9 p.m. EST on A&E, Lifetime, and History.
