We all have to experience the distinctly strange pleasure of riding public transportation at one time or another. For some of us in big cities, we rely on public transit every single day, usually twice. Whether it's a train, a bus or a plane, there are times when you have no choice but to be in very close proximity to a lot of strangers. It's a weird situation any way you slice it, but it gets a lot weirder when someone is eating something that everyone else can/has to smell.
Eating on public transportation is a hotly contested issue. Whether you're concerned about the spread of illnesses and bacteria (touching the subway pole and then eating something and then touching the pole again, BARF), the issue of politeness (no one wants to smell or hear you eating on their way to work) or simply the issue of cleanliness (what percentage of litter is comprised of Egg McMuffin wrappers??), chowing down on something in close proximity to others just doesn't seem like a good idea to us. Worse still, it's not usually something as innocuous as an apple or a granola bar. Some of you monsters are bringing your own pancakes and maple syrup.
We asked our readers and friends a single question: What's the worst thing you've ever seen someone eating on public transportation? Buckle up, it gets really weird.
