Brian Returns In 'Family Guy' Christmas Miracle

Brian Returns On 'Family Guy'!

In a twist seen miles away -- or at least as far back as the episode in which he died -- it was a Christmas miracle on the latest "Family Guy." Despite the new dog taking his place in the opening sequence, Stewie wasn't ready to give up on his best friend. But with his time machine destroyed he had no idea how to get Brian back.

That all changed when Stewie saw a version of himself from the past in a toy store. With access to a time machine again, Stewie jumped back in time and saved Brian from getting hit by that car. Then, with his timeline averted, he faded out of existence. As "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane put it on Twitter, "I mean, you didn’t really think we’d kill off Brian, did you? Jesus we’d have to be f***ing high.”

Even though this result was inevitable, Hollywood Life's Andy Swift still appreciated the move. "Of all the controversial story lines 'Family Guy' has served up in recent years ... Brian’s death was easily the one met with the greatest public outcry." While it may have just been a limited storyline, it certainly brought a lot of attention to the veteran show, and that's always good news.

"Family Guy" is scheduled to return on Sunday, January 26 at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
