Megan Hilty Talks 'Sean Saves The World' And Why She's Happy She Isn't Singing (VIDEO)

Will 'Sean Saves The World' Do A Musical Episode?

After a long career on the Broadway stage, Megan Hilty made the jump to "Smash," a show that combined her love for musicals with the opportunity for a regular role on television. Now she's starring as Sean Hayes' best friend Liz on the new sitcom "Sean Saves The World," but she isn't expecting to pull out her impressive pipes for the part.

When HuffPost Live's Josh Zepps asked if she'll be doing any singing for the role, Hilty said she would love to portray a comedic spin on her vocal talent.

"They keep saying that we will [sing on the show], just because everybody on the show actually does sing," Hilty said. "But if my character does, I hope she's terrible. I hope they build her up for several episodes as being this awesome karaoke aficionado and then she's just terrible."

The fact that "Sean Saves The World" did not have a musical component was actually an attractor for Hilty, she said.

"When the opportunity came up to audition for it, I was like, 'Yes, please! I'd like to do something completely different from 'Smash' and do something where I don't sing for once,'" she said.

That's not to say Hilty didn't love the "Smash" experience. She said she would have been thrilled to see the series continue to a third season.

"Of course I would have loved to have worked on that show forever, but at least we were lucky enough to have two seasons," she said.
