Greg Behrendt And Wife Amiira Ruotola Reveal The Truth About Texting And Dating (VIDEO)

5 Words That Will Get Men To Call You Instead Of Text

Dating in the digital age can make relationships seem more complex than ever before, especially when it comes to texting. According to Greg Behrendt and Amiira Ruotola, authors of the book It's Just a F***ing Date, texting can actually make it more difficult to communicate, not less.

On a recent episode of "Oprah's Lifeclass," Behrendt and Ruotola discuss the ins and outs of modern dating, including the relatively new role that texting has in relationships. Often, men choose to text to ask women out, rather than calling them or asking them face-to-face. Is there a way to reverse that trend? Ruotola says absolutely -- with five little words.

"Here's the thing," she begins in the above video. "If somebody texts you for something, all you have to do is [respond], 'Call me for the answer.'"

"Oh, that's good," Oprah agrees.

"You let people know how to communicate with you," Ruotola explains.

Also in the clip, a single man confesses why many men like him prefer texting to making that phone call.

The next new episode of "Oprah's Lifeclass" addresses colorism and airs Friday, Jan. 10, at 9 p.m. ET on OWN.
