Jameis Winston's BCS Title-Winning Touchdown Takes Him From Famous To Legendary (VIDEO)

Jameis Winston might need to upgrade his nickname after the unforgettable finish to the BCS National Championship Game.

The "Famous" quarterback for No. 1 Florida State attained "Legendary" status in Tallahassee by throwing a game-winning touchdown in the final minute against No. 2 Auburn to seal the final national championship of the BCS era. With the Seminoles trailing 31-27, Winston capped an 7-play drive with a 2-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin with 13 seconds left on the clock.

"My team got on my back and we just went the whole way," Winston said of the thrilling conclusion after being named the offensive MVP of the game during the trophy presentation ceremony.

After Auburn regained the lead on a 37-yard touchdown run by Tre Mason, Winston and the Seminoles began their game-winning drive at their own 20-yard line with just 1:19 remaining in regulation. One of six finalists invited to New York City for the presentation of the 79th Heisman Trophy in December, Mason celebrated his go-ahead score by flashing the stiff-arm pose for the ESPN cameras. After the ensuing kickoff, Winston showed why he was the finalist who left the Big Apple with that iconic trophy. The 20-year-old redshirt freshman completed 6 of 7 passes as he marched Florida State 80 yards in 66 seconds. On his final throw of the night, Winston lofted a pass toward the heart of the end zone to his 6 '5" target. Benjamin leaped high above 5' 11" cornerback Chris Davis and pulled down the title-clinching score.

"I'm pretty sure I got more respect from my teammates and the people around me on that last drive then I got the whole year," Winston said during his postgame press conference.
