Hockey Player Returns To Ice After Getting Stomach Sliced By Skate (VIDEO)

WATCH: NHL Player Takes A Skate To The Stomach

When you think about it, an injury like this was inevitable -- but that's not to say it's any easier to watch.

Philadelphia Flyers Center Brayden Schenn inadvertently took a skate to the stomach during Tuesday's game against the New Jersey Devils, courtesy of Dainius Zubrus. Despite being left with a sizable gash down his stomach, Schenn returned to the game in no time, thanks to a generous smear of ointment.

"At least Zubrus knows he doesn't need to have [his skates] sharpened for now," Deadspin quips.

The Flyers went on to beat the Devils in overtime, with a final score of 3-2.

This is only the latest in what has become an injurious season for Schenn, who suffered an absolutely horrendous hit in early December by Capitals winger Tom Wilson.
