'Girls' Renewed For Season 4 Ahead Of Season 3 Premiere

Season 4 Is A Go

Season 3 of "Girls" has yet to air a single episode, but that didn't stop HBO from picking up the critically-acclaimed series for a fourth season.

Casey Bloys, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, broke the news on Thursday (Jan. 9) moments before the network's 2014 Winter TCA Press Tour. Filming is set to begin in the spring with the new season scheduled to air in 2015.

"Girls" has never been a ratings smash for the network, though it has garnered nearly constant media buzz and awards show attention. The series is nominated for two Golden Globes this Sunday (Jan. 12): Best Television Series - Comedy or Musical, and Best Actress in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical for Lena Dunham.

Season 3 of "Girls" kicks off with back-to-back episodes opposite NBC's coverage of the Globes, this Sunday at 10 p.m. EST on HBO.
