UPDATED: Denver Man Allegedly Has Hostage In 7-Eleven

UPDATE 12:36 p.m. -- Authorities said the suspect was shot and is in critical condition. 9News reports that the suspect held two people hostage and that police were able to get him outside following an hour-long negotiation. The suspect allegedly used a woman as a human shield, and was fired upon by a Denver police officer as he tried dragging the woman back inside. Both hostages are safe.

UPDATE 11:38 a.m. -- Authorities say they have captured the suspect.

ORIGINAL STORY 11:26 a.m. -- Authorities in Denver, Colo., are on the scene of a possible hostage situation.

Police say a man has barricaded himself inside a 7-Eleven convenience store and is threatening to shoot a female hostage, 9News reports.

The Denver Police Department has negotiators on the scene and has closed off nearby streets.

A notification is being sent to nearby residents warning them about the unfolding situation, according to 7News.
