In character, Woody Allen did not attend the 2014 Golden Globes, where he was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award. Instead of walking down the red carpet in Los Angeles, he celebrated his award in New York City.

Page Six reports that Allen spent the evening at the premiere of "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" with his wife Soon-Yi Previn and their daughter. The family sat near Katie Couric for the show.

During intermission, a Broadway insider shouted, "Mr. Allen, shouldn't you be in Los Angeles tonight?" To which he responded, "I prefer New York."

Later, the family had dinner at the Upper East Side restaurant Sistina. A source told the New York Post, "The group celebrated by dining for over three hours. Everyone was in a fun, celebratory mood and congratulating Woody."

Others were not feeling so congratulatory. Allen's ex-wife Mia Farrow and her son Ronan expressed their displeasure with Allen's award via Twitter while the Golden Globes ceremony aired.
