Air Force Drug Probe Widened To Include Cheating, Official Says

Air Force Drug Probe Widens

By LOLITA C. BALDOR and ROBERT BURNS, The Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A defense official says an Air Force drug investigation of officers at six Air Force bases has been widened to include more service members as well as allegations of cheating on certification tests.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the expansion of the probe has not been announced and provided no other details.

Last week the Pentagon disclosed the original drug probe, which includes officers at two nuclear missile bases and four other bases, but it provided few details beyond saying the officers are suspected of possessing "recreational drugs."

The matter is being probed by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
