'Teen Mom 2' Star Leah Messer Reveals Her Daughter, 4, Has Muscular Dystrophy

'Teen Mom 2' Star Reveals Devastating News

"Teen Mom 2" star Leah Messer revealed some devastating news to InTouch Tuesday (Jan. 21): Her four-year-old daughter, Aliannah, is suffering from a rare and incurable form of muscular dystrophy.

"We were scared because we didn't know what her future was going to look like, but we always pushed for answers," Messer told InTouch. "We never gave up, and we never will. We'll do everything we can to make sure Ali has the life that she needs."

"The disorder affects her respiratory system and progresses the older she gets," Leah continued. "The bigger she gets and the more weight she gains, the harder it'll be for her muscles to carry the weight." Eventually, the 21-year-old reality star explained, her daughter will need a wheelchair.

Aliannah and her twin sister Aleeah are Leah's children from her marriage to Corey Simms, whom she divorced in 2011, according to E! News. Leah and husband Jeremy Calvert welcomed daughter Addalynn last February.

The new season of "Teen Mom 2," which premiered yesterday, will focus on Aliannah's diagnosis. The show's many fans took to Twitter in support of Messer's family:
