Murali Doraiswamy: "Mental Being Should Be The Number One Priority'

Murali Doraiswamy of the Duke University School of Medicine spoke with HuffPost Live about the importance of taking care of your mind.

"Our mind is very closely tied into our body," Doraiswamy said. "Mental health affects every aspect of our physical health."

"Mental being should be the number one priority, because there's no health without mental health," he continued.

Doraiswamy said companies should be focused on the well-being of employees, which can lead to improved employee performance and ultimately a stronger business.

Doraiswamy guessed that health has become a central focus of Davos for that reason.

"I think people are recognizing that mental well-being is directly tied to physical well-being and productivity in the work place," Doraiswamy said.

"What is the ultimate goal of technology? What is the ultimate goal of finance? What is the ultimate goal of economy? It's to make individuals happy and fulfilled," he said.
