Rashida Jones Cast For Lead In Steve Carell's TBS Comedy 'Tribeca'

Rashida Jones And Steve Carell Are Teaming Up

"Parks & Recreation" fans have been anxiously awaiting the departures of Rashida Jones and Rob Lowe from the NBC sitcom all season long. But while Ann is leaving Pawnee, fans can take solace in knowing that Jones won't be gone for too long. Deadline reports that the actress has been cast in Steve Carell's new TBS pilot, "Tribeca." Carell is co-creator with his wife, Nancy Carell, and director for the project.

Jones takes on the lead role of Angie Tribeca. The single-camera comedy appears on the surface to be a cross between "Law & Order: SVU" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine." Angie is a veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department's R.H.C.U. (Really Heinous Crimes Unit). Tension rises immediately when Angie is forced to work with a partner, which she has no interest in doing.

Meanwhile, Jones and Lowe have been wrapping up their storyline on "Parks & Recreation." Lowe's Chris proposed to Ann in the most recent episode. The on-screen couple has two episodes remaining with "Parks," though the door remains open for them to make return appearances on the show.

For now, Rashida Jones can be seen on "Parks & Recreation," airing Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. EST on NBC. Production is scheduled to begin on "Tribeca" within the next few months
