'The Originals': Death Comes To New Orleans

Death Tears The 'Family' Apart On 'The Originals'

Tragedy struck "The Originals," and it's all Klaus' fault. But then again, isn't it always? Reluctantly, Davina agreed to complete the Harvest ceremony that she ran away from before the series began. In it, she would have her throat slit and then should be resurrected. Davina was suspicious of the ceremony originally, but felt she had no choice now as she thought it was either this or watch her friends die.

As she feared, the ceremony didn't work as advertised. Davina died alongside the other witches, but none of them rose again. Marcel, who'd come to care for her as family, was devastated and disavowed Klaus for good. Everything was fine before Klaus and his kin showed up in town. Now, he's lost everything he fought and cared for.

Hollywood Life's Andy Swift called it the biggest episode yet. "I hope you had your Kleenex handy, because this week’s ‘Originals’ was a doozy!" he wrote. "Honestly, this episode felt like a season finale, even more so than last week’s episode.”

“Where does Davina’s death leave the Originals?" wondered Wetpaint's Crystal Bell. "Where did all the [witches'] power go? Cue epic twist .. Sabine has the power, and she uses it to resurrect three very powerful elders — and they all look experienced in voodoo magic. Oh, and the real kicker? Sabine isn’t her real name — it’s [Elijah's ex] Celeste!”

"The Originals" continues on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
