Broncos Fan Fired After Wearing Jersey To Work In Seattle

Who knew a little Broncos pride might cost someone their job? That's just what one Seattle-area teen is saying as to why he lost his job -- for wearing his Denver Broncos jersey to work.

17-year-old Nathaniel Wentz told Yahoo! Sports that it was "wear a jersey to work day" at Odyssey 1, a family entertainment center in Tacoma, Wash., where Wentz worked until Sunday, so he to show his team spirit he wore a jersey from his favorite team: the Denver Broncos.

Wentz manager told him to go home and change -- apparently, the only team to show spirit for was the Seattle Seahawks.

"It was all about you can’t. You can’t represent your team. There’s something wrong with that," said Wentz to Seattle's KING5.

Denver's 9News reports that the high school student was technically fired for not returning to work on Sunday, after he was sent home to change his clothes.

Odyssey 1 has not made an official statement to the media confirming the exact reason for letting Wentz go, but did post this message on their Facebook page on the Tuesday after the incident took place:

To show support for The Seattle Seahawks on game day, our employees may choose to wear a Seahawks Jersey in place of our standard uniform, which is required. To prevent any possible conflicts, the option of wearing other teams’ jerseys is not allowed. The employee reported to work in an unauthorized uniform and was asked to change into a standard uniform. Soon after he left to change into an accepted uniform, we received a phone call stating that he was not returning to work, leaving his position unfilled and creating extra stress for the staff covering his job on a busy weekend day.

The post has received hundreds of comments, several of which have been critical of the company's decision to let Wentz go.
