Sherri Shepherd, Emmy Award-Winning Cohost of The View, gave us a few helpful, small steps you can take if you're pre-diabetic in order to avoid developing diabetes.
“You really want to look at your carbs as well as sugar intake,” she advised us. “When you eat things that are high in carbs, those things convert to sugar.”
Sherri advises looking critically at what you eat. Get rid of juices, which are filled with sugar, and drink more water instead. She also always encourages people to get rid of anything “white,” like bread and pasta made from white flour. Replace anything white flour-based with whole wheat flour, and opt for whole grain options, like brown rice or whole grain pasta.
Finally, Sherri recommends getting rid of anything made from refined sugars, including anything processed or enriched.
