CEO Issues Warning On 'A Time Bomb On The Verge Of Exploding'

During an interview with HuffPost Live at Davos on Saturday, Badr Jafar, the CEO of Crescent Enterprises, shared what he thinks is a big threat to development and growth in the Middle East.

Jafar said he's concerned about a lack of corporate governance in the Middle East, saying the problem is "a time bomb on the verge of exploding in our region."

"We don't have today the corporate governance structures to protect that value," Jafar said.

Jafar also said youth unemployment is "a major issue" for the region.

"The rates of youth unemployment in the Middle East are far higher than any other region in the world," Jafar said.

"Solutions at that scale are not yet there and not being implemented," he added.

Jafar said it's not just about salaries and job titles, it's also about productive jobs "where people are actively engaged" in society.
