This Teacher Shaved His Head For His Bald Student Who Was Being Bullied

When a student in his classroom was bullied for losing his hair, an elementary school teacher from Marivan, Iran, shaved his head.

But Ali Mohammadian, 45, didn't just stop the bullying with his gesture -- he inspired his class of more than 20 students to shave their heads as well, the Guardian reports.

The student, 8-year-old Mahan Rahimi, lost his hair from chemotherapy treatments, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

In December, Mohammadian posted a picture of himself with Rahimi to Facebook. The picture spread online and even caught the attention of Iran's president, Hassan Rouhani, IRNA reported.

"I'm so happy that this has touched many hearts and people reacted enormously positive," Mohammadian told the Guardian.

Last week, a first-grader in Union, Mo., garnered national attention for shaving his head in support of his best friend who's undergoing chemotherapy. And last July, former President George H.W. Bush shaved his head to show solidarity with 2-year-old Patrick, the son of a member of his security detail who's battling leukemia.
