Erin Burnett Challenges Reince Priebus: GOP Looks 'Leaderless'

CNN Host To Priebus: GOP Looks 'Leaderless'

CNN's Erin Burnett clashed with Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus on Wednesday when she told him that the GOP looked "leaderless" after the State of the Union Address.

Burnett was referring to the multiple Republican responses to the president's speech on Tuesday night. It was her first night back after maternity leave.

"That does not seem like a big tent party," Burnett told Priebus. "That seems like a party who doesn’t know who the heck is in charge, it seems leaderless."

"I think that's a pretty silly comment," Priebus replied. "And I know it's your first day back." He said that every conservative member of Congress had some kind of response to the State of the Union, and that Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers gave the official rebuttal to the speech.

"It does fan the flame of a party though, Reince, that doesn't have a voice," Burnett insisted.

"I don't see it as a loss at all," Priebus said. "I think that we need to build our party by promoting different voices in our party so that we can come together and win."

Burnett was back Wednesday after taking some time off to have her baby. She gave birth to a boy, her first child, in December.
