Why Kerry Washington Totally Deserves A Vogue Cover This Year

Listen Up, Vogue: Kerry Washington Deserves Her Own Cover

In case you haven't noticed, there are a lot of worthy women who haven't landed Vogue covers. But one in particular has been irking us: Kerry Washington. She's talented, charming and beyond gorgeous... so what's the fashion bible waiting for?

In honor of Kerry's 37th birthday today (Jan. 31), we've listed some of the reasons she needs her own Vogue cover before her next birthday rolls around.

First and foremost, the woman has style. Vanity Fair awarded her the top honor on its 2013 International Best-Dressed List. Oh, and she basically redefined maternity wear at this month's SAG Awards, making a crop top look demure and elegant.

Plus, she's landed covers for Elle, Vanity Fair and Lucky in the past year. So we know she can pull off a luxury fashion shoot like nobody's business.

In fact, Anna Wintour helped select that now-infamous Lucky cover. While the Internet backlash against the seemingly Photoshopped cover was strong, Lucky editor-in-chief Eva Chen claimed that Ms. Wintour was "definitely aware of our cover selection and was very supportive."

She frequently rubs shoulders with Anna and the rest of the style set. Kerry was Vera Wang's date to the 2013 Met Gala. Translation: She has friends in high fashion places.

People are talking about her. With her recent surprise wedding and pregnancy, the gossip mags have been buzzing about Kerry, so the public's certainly interested. Her nuptials were even 2013's most Googled wedding.

"Scandal" is one of the biggest things happening on TV right now. With Vogue's homage to "Homeland" in Claire Dane's August 2011 issue, we know the Voguettes care about what's hot on the small screen.

She's starred in Oscar-nominated films, like "Django Unchained," "Ray" and "The Last King of Scotland." If the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences can acknowledge Kerry's prowess, we'd say the top dogs in fashion should do the same.

Basically, the world has already fallen in love with her. Between her SNL hosting gig last year and her loyal following on Twitter, the people have spoken and they want more Kerry. Are you listening, Vogue?
