Gillian Flynn is a hit among readers from the nation's top-ranked library.

The Chicago Public Library -- which recently ranked first among all of the urban public library systems in the U.S. released its list of the most-circulated books of 2013 for fiction, non-fiction, teen and children's books earlier this week.

Unsurprisingly, many of the books making the CPL's most-popular list are by authors from Chicago or about the Windy City itself, including Flynn's "Gone Girl."

The library said the rankings reflect "the most checkouts and hold requests during calendar year 2013, regardless of when the books were published," which explains why somewhat dated picks ("Fifty Shades of Grey") and classics ("The Great Gatsby") made the cut.
