'Seinfeld' Reunion Happens During Super Bowl

Jerry Seinfeld wasn't kidding when he told New York radio hosts Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton on Thursday that the rumored "Seinfeld" reunion was happening "very, very soon."

During the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday night, Seinfeld (as Jerry), Jason Alexander (as George) and Wayne Knight (as Newman) reunited for a special, fictional version of Seinfeld's "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee." The mini-episode, which Seinfeld said was not affiliated with "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" before it aired on Fox, featured Jerry and George arguing over Super Bowl party plans at Tom's Restaurant. Seinfeld wrote the script for the episode with Larry David.

"Fox approached Larry and me about doing some kind of 'Seinfeld' reunion for the halftime broadcast because of the New York connection," Seinfeld said in a statement provided to the New York Times. "So we thought throwing Jerry, George and Newman into a 'Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee' was a fun way to do it. Larry and I wrote the script in one sitting, just like old times, and working with him, Jason and Wayne was a total blast, as it always was."
