Peyton Manning Insulted By Use Of Word 'Embarrassing' To Describe Broncos' Super Bowl Loss

Peyton Manning would never use the word "embarrassing" to describe the Broncos devastating 43-8 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLVIII, he said in a post-game interview on Sunday.

After answering a range of questions about the game, Manning became visibly upset when a reporter asked if he felt embarrassed by the Broncos' poor performance against an overwhelmingly dominant Seahawks team.

"It's not embarrassing at all," Manning responded. "I would never use that word. There's a lot of professional football players in that locker room that put a lot of hard work and effort into being here and playing in that game."

Manning paused briefly as if to collect his thoughts and added: "The word 'embarrassing' is an insulting word to tell you the truth."

Ouch.

Manning has plenty to be proud of with his record-setting regular season, but on Sunday couldn't put a ring on what many have called the greatest season an NFL quarterback has ever played -- or quiet questions about his legacy as one of the greatest, if not the greatest, quarterback of all time.
