Russell Wilson Did A Favor For All Quarterbacks Under Six Feet With Super Bowl Victory (VIDEO)

Russell Wilson Helps Out All QBs Under Six Feet

For any quarterbacks under six feet who get drafted in the NFL over the next 10 years, they have Russell Wilson to thank. The 5'11'' signal-caller won a Super Bowl less than two years after ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. said during the 2012 NFL Draft that Wilson's success would impact every QB to enter the league after him who's listed under six feet.

"I say he's a test case. I say it for this reason. If you're talking about Russell Wilson in the NFL, he'll get a chance to be a starting quarterback If he can't get it done, in the next 10 years Todd [McShay], I don't want to hear about any quarterbacks under six feet, in that 5'11'' range. If this kid can't make it, nobody can at that particular height." Kiper said as he argued with Jon Gruden during the draft. "28 of the 32 starting quarterbacks are 6'2'' or taller... Nobody under six feet is starting in the NFL now."

In the third round with the 75th overall pick, the Seahawks selected Wilson and it didn't take long for the dual-threat QB out of Wisconsin to win the starting job.

It paid off, fast. In the last two regular seasons, Seattle went 24-8 with Wilson under center. The Seahawks fell short in the postseason of his rookie year, but not in his sophomore season.

In a Super Bowl dominated by Seattle in every aspect of the game, Wilson did his part completing 18 of 25 passes for 206 yards and two touchdown passes. He finished with a quarterback rating of 123.1.

Following Seattle's 43-8 blowout over Denver, Wilson said his father would keep telling him, "Russ, why not you?"

"And what that meant was believe in yourself," Wilson said, via USA Today Sports. "Believe in the talent God has given you, even though you are 5-11, and you can go a long ways, That's why I decided to play football, and I wanted to go against the odds a little bit."
