Playing one of the most recognized soap opera characters of all time, Susan Lucci ruled daytime drama as Erica Kane on "All My Children." After 41 years as Erica, Lucci tells "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" how she found out that the show was being canceled in 2011.

"I found out about the cancellation of 'All My Children' from ABC on the day it was announced," Lucci says in the above video. "I found out just minutes before the public found out, before we all found out."

"I was blindsided," she says. "I didn't see it coming."

From her home in New York, Lucci shows the room where she watched the final episode of "All My Children," by herself. "I think I went through all the different phases of mourning," she says. "I think yes, there was denial. There was anger. I was shaken to the core, professionally, and I thought, 'Will I ever work again? Will anybody ever hire me again?'"

Luckily, Lucci says, the answer was yes. The 67-year-old actress now plays Genevieve Delatour on "Devious Maids," a role she loves. "I have been having the best time shooting this show," Lucci says.

In the video below, OWN Executive Producer Julie Simpson joins HuffPost Live to talk more about the episode and shares what Lucci was like behind the scenes.
