Liberal pundit James Carville is headed to Fox News, the network announced in a press release Thursday.

The Democratic strategist made the jump almost exactly one year after his departure from CNN in January 2013. The former "Crossfire" co-host has been a frequent guest on Fox News shows like "The O’Reilly Factor," "The Kelly File," and "Hannity." Carville will now act as an on-air contributor for the network, the Hollywood Reporter said.

"We are privileged to have him lend his breadth of experience, wit and dynamic perspective on the network," Fox News' executive vice president of programming Bill Shine said.

Carville's split from CNN came alongside exits by his wife Mary Matalin, Erick Erickson and Bill Bennett-- but Carville and Matalin were considered CNN's most prominent pundits. Carville's departure was part of a much larger shakeup headed by chief Jeff Zucker's new strategy.
