Demi Lovato Comments On Selena Gomez's Rehab Stint

Demi Lovato has broken her silence about Selena Gomez, just days after news surfaced that the former Disney star had recently checked into rehab.

"Selena is ... I've known her for 14 years and we've been best friends," Lovato told E! News. "That's all of her business, and I just want to let her do her thing. And, yeah, she's amazing. I love her."

She also spoke with "Extra" host Mario Lopez about how proud she is of Gomez, 21, saying, “Selena and I have such an amazing friendship ... and I love her to death."

This week, it was revealed that Gomez spent two weeks in rehab last month at The Meadows facility in Arizona. Her rep said she voluntarily attended the program, but not for substance abuse. A source told Billboard "she was burnt out" due to a rigorous work schedule.

When the news first broke, Lovato tweeted a message seemingly directed at her friend:

Days earlier, Lovato had tweeted about drugs and the stigma of addiction following the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman, who was found dead of an apparent overdose in his New York City apartment on Sunday, Feb. 2.

"It's just important to me, for people to see that it's not, when you're a drug addict, that it's your fault," she told E! News. "It's not even a conscious decision. When you're in your disease, you do things impulsively. You don't think forward. When you're a drug addict, you are in pain and this is the only way you know how to medicate it."
