Obama's Olympics Message: 'Bring Out Your 'A' Game When It Matters Most'

Obama Delivers Olympic Sendoff For U.S. Athletes

As the 2014 Winter Olympics kicked off Friday in Sochi, Russia, President Barack Obama delivered a patriotic sendoff to all the American athletes.

In an exclusive video for NBC's "TODAY," Obama said the country "couldn’t be prouder" of their efforts.

“Bring out your ‘A’ game when it matters most," he added.

In addition to Obama's remarks, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) honored olympians from Florida on Thursday. In a video on his YouTube channel, Rubio credited all of the participants, saying every one of them has "an inspiring story."

"Your careers are proof that no dream is too big – even dreams of one day being a Winter Olympian from Florida," he added.
