On Thursday, the Queen of Semi-Homemadeness, Sandra Lee, stopped by HuffPost Live to talk about... well, mostly fashion, we suppose. Lee was named "New York's First Lady of Fashion" by OK Magazine, because of her self-proclaimed affinity for white fabric and turtlenecks. But, as usually happens when Lee is in the room, the conversation turned to food and her relationships with other celebrity chefs.
Host Nancy Redd asked Lee if she thinks she gets the respect she deserves from other celebrity chefs, and her response was surprisingly candid. "I think that if they cook with a different sensibility than I do, and they're more 'purists,' that if they don't respect me for the way that I cook... I think they respect my business acumen," Lee said. She stopped just short of saying that she and other TV food personalities are all just out there trying to make a buck, but not too far short.
Yes, she also named-dropped Mario Batali. Yes, she also made a comment about how you can't make everything from scratch unless you own your own grocery store or use your own human eggs.
You can watch the whole Sandra Lee interview here, but don't get your hopes up for any questions about Kwanzaa Cake.
