Zeynep Tufekci, a professor at the University of North Carolina, tweeted these horrifying images of a Turkish reporter getting knocked down by the blast from a water cannon:
The reporter was covering protesters demonstrating, as Al Jazeera wrote, "against a bill tightening control of the Internet as well as demanding the release of army officers jailed for plotting a coup."
Tufekci later added more details about the shocking scene:
