Taylor Swift's Thoughts On Love Might Make You Happy You're Single

If the fact that you're single is about to send you crying into a bowl of pink and red candy this Valentine's Day, weep not friends, for Taylor Swift's thoughts on love will have you jumping for joy that you aren't filing taxes jointly this year.

Swift's history of rocky romances provides inspiration for her chart-topping tunes, and endless opportunities to wax poetic when asked about matters of the heart. No one understands heartbreak quite like this 24-year-old, and after learning of her philosophies on love and relationships, spending Feb. 14 binge-watching "House Of Cards" with your friends will seem like the smartest move you ever made.

Breathing space is not acceptable:
"I can’t deal with someone wanting to take a relationship backward or needing space or cheating on you. It’s a conscious thing; it’s a common-sense thing. If I was in that situation, if I were them, would I be doing this to me? Would I ever do this to them? If the answer is no, then they’re not treating me fairly. I just don’t ever want to end up in a relationship that isn’t fair ever again." (Cosmopolitan, October 2012)

Dive right into every relationship:
"I don't think there's an option for me to fall in love slowly, or at medium speed. I either do or I don't. I don't think it through, really, which is a good and a bad thing. You don't look before you leap, which is like, 'Yay, this is awesome! Let's not think twice!' And then you're like, 'We used to be flying. Now we're falling. What's happening?" (Parade, November 2012)

Don't outwardly emote, save it all for your diary:
"I don’t think I’ve ever yelled at an ex-boyfriend. Ever. I’m not a yeller. I’m not a fit thrower. If something is done, it’s done." (Elle, February 2013)

There are no rules when it comes to love, just the rules of the road:
"Relationships are like traffic lights. And I just have this theory that I can only exist in a relationship if it’s a green light." (Wonderland, April 2013)

Basically, it's always on her mind:
"You only need to think about [love] when it's bad." ("Coffee Break," July 2013)

Make sure your relationship is as dramatic as possible:
"I am getting to a point where the only love worth being in is the love worth singing about. And kind of mad love. I think that for me, when you experience something that's worth writing a song about, chances are it's the same kind of intense feeling that someone else has felt, and it has led them to be sitting on a bedroom floor crying, or walking through a crowded room feeling alone or feeling misunderstood by the person who's supposed to know them better than anybody else." (Rolling Stone, August 2013)

Never learn from past mistakes:
"The way I look at love is you have to follow it, and fall hard, if you fall hard. You have to forget about what everyone else thinks. It has to be an us-against-the-world mentality. You have to make it work by prioritizing it, and by falling in love really fast, without thinking too hard. If I think too hard about a relationship I'll talk myself out of it. ...I have rules for a lot of areas of my life. Love is not going to be one of them." (Rolling Stone, October 2013)

Don't forget to play to win:
"I think everyone should approach relationships from the perspective of playing it straight and giving someone the benefit of the doubt. Until he establishes that this is a game. And if it’s a game, you need to win. The best thing to do is just walk away from the table." (Glamour, February 2014)

The silent treatment is such a mature way to deal with problems:
"Silence speaks so much louder than screaming tantrums. Never give anyone an excuse to say that you’re crazy.” (Glamour, February 2014 )
