'Last Man On Earth' Comedy Series Greenlit By Fox

FilmNation Entertainment

After impressing audiences with a subdued performance on the big-screen in "Nebraska," Will Forte is headed back to the small screen. Fox announced that it has given a series order to Forte's high-concept series "Last Man on Earth." Apparently, the single-camera comedy is a literal take on that title. Will Forte portrays the last man on Earth.

It kind of reminds us of the short-lived post-apocalyptic comedy "Woops!" from way back in 1992 on Fox -- maybe that show was just ahead of its time!

There's got to be more to "Last Man on Earth" than just Forte wandering around alone. Even "Woops!" had six survivors. He's a funny guy, but we're not sure anyone could pull that off as a weekly series. More than likely he only thinks he's the last man on Earth.

More details will likely emerge as the show goes into production this summer for a mid-season premiere in early 2015 on Fox.
