On Valentine's Day, Syria Sends A 'Message Of Love' (VIDEO)

Valentine's Day Video From Syria Will Break Your Heart

A powerful video from war-torn Syria aims to send "a message of love" to the world on Valentine's Day.

"We are a people of love living under a regime of hate," the video says, showing heartbreaking images of activists, civilians and children holding posters that proclaim "a message of love" in different languages.

The video was produced by the Masarat News Network, which describes itself as an independent non-profit media organization.

While peace talks at Geneva have deadlocked, the fighting in Syria continues. Nearly 5,000 have reportedly died since the negotiations began on Jan. 22, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. A United Nations-brokered ceasefire between rebels and government forces earlier this month allowed for the evacuation of some civilians and the delivery of some humanitarian aid to the besieged city of Homs, but some said that deal does not signal real progress.
