Grattis, Princess Madeleine!

The Swedish royal has just given birth to a baby girl, according to the Swedish royal court. The announcement read:

Thursday February 20 2014 at 10.41 pm local time, Princess Madeleine and Mr Christopher O’Neill had a daughter at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York, USA.

Both mother and child are in good health. Mr Christopher O’Neill was present at the hospital throughout the birth.

Even though Madeleine is fourth in line to the throne of Sweden, she's currently living in New York City with her husband, financier Christopher O'Neill. The couple wed last June and announced Madeleine's pregnancy a few months after in September. Since then, we've spotted the royal shopping in the city and taking leisurely strolls in Central Park as she prepared for motherhood.

Back in October, the princess told Swedish Elle magazine that the pregnancy happened "a little fast and very suddenly." Now that the time has come and she's officially a parent, we're sure she's more than prepared for the adorable little flicka. Who knows? Maybe she's taken some pointers from Kate Middleton.
