Britain's Channel 4 mistranslated the Russian minister's name to read "so gay lover" Thursday night during a live broadcast from Kiev.
The reporter was discussing a meeting between the minister, Sergey Lavrov, and US Secretary of State John Kerry. Given Russia's controversial law banning gay "propaganda," this subtitle blunder is gloriously ironic -- even more so because the minister himself has spoken in favor of the anti-gay law, stating that outlawing "homosexual propaganda" protects Russian morals. We can suspect that "so gay lover" will not be pleased.
