La Santa Cecilia's 'Someday New' Album Expresses Multicultural Influences (VIDEO)

Having a GRAMMY in hand has been one big leap for Los Angeles local band, La Santa Cecilia. Their journey is only getting better, as this fresh and new Latin alternative group presents their latest album, “Someday New.”

Their attractive one-of-its-kind sound has earned these California-based musicians the 2014 GRAMMY for Best Alternative Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album for “Treinta Dias.”

It’s a no-brainier that “Someday New” is composed of the unique Santa Cecilia flavor known for its eclectic fusion of Mexican folk, rancheras, boleros, rock, flamenco, bossanova, salsa and more.

What to expect in ‘Someday New’

La Santa Cecilia has come a long way since their debut at the 2012 LAMC and “Noches y Citas,” but they have not forgotten their roots, dedicating their GRAMMY win to “the more than 11 million undocumented people that live and work really hard in this country, and that still need to lead a more dignified life,” according to The New York Times.

Composed by four musically talented immigrants, children of immigrants and dreamers, La Santa Cecilia offers their rock mestizo in “Someday New.”

The album consists of seven new tracks, including a Beatles cover of “Strawberry Fields Forever,” the Mexican anthem “Como Dios Manda,” a tribute to Jose Jose and new versions of their hit songs “Monedita” and “El Hielo.”

“We grew up in the US with a strong influence of American music; however, in our homes it was like growing up in Latin America. Through the nostalgic memories of our fathers, we receive the gift of knowing who we are and where we come from,” said the band.

“This album represents our great love, appreciation and passion for culture and Pan-American music, mixed with our American influences. We are excited to share this album full of love with everyone!”

“Cumbia Morada” is the first single off the album, now available on iTunes and Amazon. Listen to it above.
