A word to all radio shock jocks: Don't mess with Lorde.

The 17-year-old star called in to "The Kyle & Jackie O Show" on Australia's KIIS 1065 Monday to talk about her upcoming tour Down Under. But when host Kyle Sandilands attempted to poke fun at Lorde's relationship with Taylor Swift by making a lesbian joke, the teen star was having none of it.

"Are you bringing your new bestie, Taylor Swift?" Sandilands asked. "I see your guys' pictures everywhere. Are you guys like, uh, are you together now?" After a moment of silence from the singer, he continued, "Not together as in lesbians. I'm not talking about 'Ellen together.' I'm talking about, like, you guys are friendly right?"

"What do you mean you're not talking about 'Ellen together'?" she asked. "Is there something wrong with lesbians? Is that what you're trying to say?"

"Oh my god, no, I would love that," he added. "Are you gonna confirm now you're in a lesbian relationship with her?"

"Don't even try it," Lorde said. "It's not working."

Sandilands went on to say Swift is a "gorgeous creature" and "no wonder you guys get on." But when the "Royals" singer refused to offer much of a response, he interjected: "Don't get too overboard with explaining the friendship, though. We haven't got all day."

"I won't, believe me," she replied.

Lorde is not one for gossip. In October, the teen dismissed an online rumor quoting her as saying she didn't like gay people. She called the story "ridiculous" during an interview with MTV News and said she chooses to let such nonsense go in order to focus on her music.

As for her relationship with Swift, the New Zealand native has become close friends with the country superstar. On Sunday, the two were spotted hanging out in a park in New York City.
