Comedian and former cab driver Jimmy Failla has a new book coming out. To promote said book, he picked up a bunch of hapless New Yorkers, and then filmed their horrified reactions when a snake handler in the front seat, obscured from sight by a bag and jacket, dangled a 10-FOOT ALBINO PYTHON in front of their faces.
Failla tells HuffPost that all of the "prank" victims signed releases, which is a feat considering how rightfully angry they all were. "Dude! Get this f**kin' thing away from me!" yells one man in the video. "Get me out of this f**kin' car right now," begs another. Another man threatens Failla with violence before saying, "I'll f*ck your snake up too, motherf**ker!"
Failla doesn't regularly drive a cab anymore, but "occasionally will get behind the wheel every now and then 'for fun,'" his publicist told Gothamist. (Like that time he had passengers tell him their sex and dating secrets.)
Failla says the rides weren't "logged into the [Taxi and Limousine Commission] system," so he probably wasn't breaking any rules. We reached out to the TLC for comment, however, and spokesman Allan Fromberg told us, "This was monumentally poor judgment on the driver’s part, and we are clearly going to actively question this person’s suitability to continue holding a TLC license.”
