Ronan Farrow, Stephen Colbert Mock 'Youth Generation' Of MSNBC Viewers

Stephen Colbert and Ronan Farrow had a very detailed discussion Tuesday night about the "youth generation" that Farrow's new MSNBC show aims to appeal to.

26-year-old Farrow has described his new program, "Ronan Farrow Daily," as "a new generation of news show for a new, more engaged generation of viewers." Colbert teased Farrow about the people who actually make up this so-called "new generation"

"[The show is] 1 PM weekdays to appeal to the youth demographic of people who are just waking up from not getting to their job," he said.

Farrow quickly interrupted, clarifying that his show is "not a youth show" but one that connects with his generation of viewers.

"What is your generation?" Colbert asked.

"Strange people who have worked in Afghanistan and at the State Department and now run a TV show," Farrow said. "That's the target demo: nerds."

But Colbert still wasn't convinced that Farrow's show will be anything different than what MSNBC already has.

"They hire mostly at MSNBC to be shills for the left," Colbert said. "Are you a shill for the left?"

"Look, I could secretly be an O'Reilly type," Farrow responded.
