Bernie Madoff has expressed disapproval for New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, telling Politico during an interview from federal prison last week that he is "not a great fan of redistribution of wealth."
Madoff, who infamously redistributed wealth to himself through a $65 billion Ponzi scheme, is currently serving a 150-year sentence in North Carolina. De Blasio touted a progressive agenda throughout his successful mayoral campaign and has vowed to fix income inequality in the city.
Politico reports Madoff also had some harsh words for President Barack Obama, although he voted for him in 2008.
โHis policies are too socialist," Madoff said.
The interview comes more than five years after Madoff revealed to authorities his entire multi-billion dollar business was "one big lie."
Since pleading guilty in 2009, the disgraced financier has insisted large banks were privy to his massive scheme. So far, JPMorgan Chase has paid over $2.5 billion in criminal and civil settlements for their own role in the scandal.
