Arianna Huffington On Finding Wonder In Her Mother's Death

How Arianna Huffington Unexpectedly Found Wonder In Her Mother's Death

Many people devote their lives to living well, but how many consider how to die well?

Arianna Huffington, author of Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder, spoke to HuffPost Live host Caroline Modaressy-Tehrani about the importance of considering death as a moment of wonder rather than a moment of tragedy.

She recalled the death of her mother, Elli Stassinopoulos, and shared the experience of letting her mother take the lead in her own passing, a moment where her strength and love shone through to the whole family.

Rather than being taken to the hospital to die amongst machines, her mother chose to pass away surrounded by family, laughter, and wine.

"That's how she had wanted to die," Huffington explained. "She wanted to die there with her family. That was her choice."
