2 Children Shot In Chicago, Grandmother Also Wounded By Gunfire

2 Young Boys, Their Grandmother Shot In Chicago

Two young boys and their grandmother were shot in Chicago on Tuesday night, according to local media.

One victim, a 5-year-old, was shot in the stomach. The bullet traveled through the child's abdomen and back and then out of his body, according to the Chicago Tribune.

He's in serious-to-critical condition.

The other boy, 3, was shot in the shoulder and is in good condition, while their 51-year-old grandmother is in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the leg, local media reports.

The identities of the victims have not been released.

The Chicago Sun-Times sent out this image of the scene via Twitter:

The three are not believed to have been the targets of the attack, according to the Tribune, which reports that a gray van was seen leaving the scene.

Citing police, the paper also notes that gangs have been fighting in the area.

Neighbors told ABC-7 they heard the gunshots.

"Well, I was in the kitchen and right at the back window, there's the alley, and all you heard was consistent, like 5 or 6 shots, like back to back," Quenica Thornton was quoted as saying.

"I'll give Chicago police credit. This time was the fastest response time I've ever seen, and I've lived over here two years," said Rayumos Hope.

No one has been arrested as of this writing.
