Mother Accused Of Slamming Baby On Sidewalk

A New Jersey mother allegedly slammed her baby on a sidewalk last Wednesday, police said.

Edwina M. Negron's 8-month-old daughter was treated for non-life threatening injuries after the incident, the Beacon Police Department told the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Last week, witnesses said they observed the mother slam her infant daughter on the ground twice. When Negron allegedly threw the child on the ground a second time when officers arrived, the little girl's head hit the sidewalk, according to NJ.com.

Beacon police said Negron tested positive for cocaine, opiates, methadone and marijuana.

Negron was charged with a felony count of second-degree assault and a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Jersey Tribune. She is being held on a $100,000 bond.
