Jeopardy Contestant Tells Trebek He's Wearing 'Fancy Suit' Made By Children

A Jeopardy contestant accused host Alex Trebek of wearing a suit made in a sweatshop during an episode of the game show that aired Wednesday.

The showdown begins around 1:30 in the video above, when Trebek introduces contestant Tom Cavanaugh, who then says he plans to spend his winnings from the show on a documentary about sweatshop labor.

"I went to Bangladesh about 10 years ago and toured a garment factory and I thought, 'What if, what if I saw a shirt that I was wearing being made by these people.'" Cavanaugh begins. "And so it's to try to put a face on who makes our clothes."

So far, pretty tame. Then Cavanaugh goes right for the jugular: "Maybe you can find out the names of the 8-year-olds who made your fancy suit there, Alex."

To which the audience belts out a collective, "Ooooohhhhhh."

"Was that a low blow?" Cavanaugh sarcastically asks.

The truth is a lot of us probably wear clothing made by people working in sweatshop-like conditions. Some of the America's biggest retailers, like Walmart and Gap, use factories in countries like Bangladesh where safety conditions are pretty terrible.

So, yeah.
