This 7-Year-Old Science Lover Has A Plan To Bring Dinosaurs Back

This clip is part of HuffPost Live's "Tell Me Why" series, featuring young enthusiasts discussing the subjects they're passionate about -- from horror movies to string theory -- with experts.

Seven-year-old Dane Rogan Showalter loves dinosaurs so much that he'd love to see them walk among us, but the young scientist is smart enough to know it won't happen like it did in "Jurassic Park."

Dane the dinosaur enthusiast joined HuffPost Live's Ricky Camilleri and science journalist Brian Switek to ask questions about the objects of his fascination and share what he knows about the long-extinct creatures.

When asked if he thought a real-life "Jurassic Park" could play out today, Dane was sure that would never work.

"Not the way they did it," he said. "In the movie, they extracted DNA from fossilized mosquitoes. Scientists have tried that. They couldn't do it."

But lucky for dinosaur lovers everywhere, Dane has a plan of his own.

"[I would] kind of alter genetic switches inside birds to make it be like a dinosaur," he said. "Like, take away the beak and put a snout with teeth, take away the tailfeather and put a tail, take away the feathers and put scales, stuff like that."
